Guided Tours at St Paul's Cathedral

Guided tours of St Paul’s Cathedral are led by highly trained volunteers who give their time to assist the daily running of the cathedral. Known as the Friends of St Paul’s, the history of the friends stretches back to World War I and again during World War II when they comprised the St Paul’s Fire Watch to man the rooftops and guard against fires from incendiary bombs. Guided tours are included with the admission charge for individual and family visitors and available to join upon arrival at the cathedral. Tours typically run at 10.00, 11.00, 13.00 and 14.00. Register for a tour at the Volunteer Information Desk located at the North West end of the cathedral.

Oculus: An Eye into St Paul’s brings 1400 years of history alive

Oculus: an eye into St Paul’s uses state-of-the-art projection technology to immerse visitors in the fascinating stories and history of this iconic landmark. Oculus is also award winning having been judged joint winner of the Exhibition Design award at the Design Week Awards 2011. In Oculus visitors will also discover the life of the cathedral; experiencing St Paul’s as a vibrant church in the heart of a cosmopolitan city where worship forms the heartbeat and rhythm of our day. Oculus is set within a timeline spanning 1400 years of history and interspersed between the films are timeline sequences in which images and dates float across the screens - encouraging moments of stillness and reflection. Oculus is included within the admission charge for all visitors to the cathedral.

Inclusive Multimedia Guide at St Paul’s Cathedral

The touch-screen multimedia guide offers audio and visual material including a spoken commentary, images, short excerpts from films, as well as music. It lasts for up to 90 minutes and is self-led. Available in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Polish, Korean, Japanese, Mandarin, British Sign Language (including subtitles).
